THE JOURNEY BEGINS
So the journey begins again. Great way to start the season.
John Lackey has matured so much in the past few years. Two years ago John would have totally lost it after the errors by Napoli and Matthews. Instead he bared down after giving up the solo home run and got out of a bad situation. Not only that he only threw 7 pitches the next inning. Great job.
Hats off also to the most underrated player on the Angels roster , Maicer Izturis. An R.B.I single along with a steady third base. With figgy injured its nice to know Maicer can step up and do the job. What a pro.
Casey Kotchman also did a great job tonight. I know it’s early but Casey sure looks relaxed out there. I’m sure after last year with his sickness slowing him down , he not only has a lot to prove to the team , but to himself as well. Nice start in the right direction (with a little help from Kenny Lofton. Thanks Kenny).
Scot Shields and Frankie Rodriguez look like their both in mid-season form.
If Justin Speier is as good as he showed tonight , whoever faces the Angels better score their runs early.
Hopefully Gary Matthews takes his roller skates off for tomarrow nights game. His feet were all over the place.
As for Darren Oliver. Darren, you have to throw strikes ! Again the season just started but you better learn early , Scioscia will stick with you if you give up hits. He will not put up with walks. Just becouse your left handed does not guaranty a roster spot on a Mike Scioscia team.
O.K. 1 down 161 left to go. I know as a fan I have to relax. But it’s always nice to get that first win out of the way. Right now the Angels are in first place and tied for the best record in baseball ! YAHOOOO !!! WORLD SERIES HERE WE COME !!!
VERY FIRST POST
Hello, just posting to get my feet wet. The season starts Monday and I can’t wait. The first month of the season can be so over analyzed. Yet, you can’t win the division the first month of the season but you sure can lose it. With the starting pitching the Angels have they should be in almost every game they play. It is vital to the teams moral and mind set that they cut down on the errors right out of the gate. The offense is underrated. Garrett Anderson looks like he’s healthy for the first time in years. K.C Kotchman also looks healthy. With the addition of Gerry Mathews Jr and Howie Kendricks as starting second baseman the offense should take some of the pressure off of Vlad. If you are an Angel fan you should be very excited about the coming season.
